While there are no symptoms of high blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to damage of the heart, arteries and other important organs. In this mini talk, you will learn (1) the causes of high blood pressure, (2) the risks related to high blood pressure, and (3) tips on how to manage your own blood pressure.

Event Details: This week's mini-talk is on High Blood Pressure. In this mini talk, an Exercise Therapist will be discussing the causes of high blood pressure, the risks related to high blood pressure, and provide tips on how to manage your own blood pressure.
Following the mini-talk education session, an Exercise Therapist will guide you through a 30-minute warmup and resistance training session. Completing regular resistance training not only increases muscle strength and endurance, but can also improve heart and lung function, reduce blood pressure, control blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and improve mental health and wellbeing. Exercises can be adapted to utilize dumbbells, exercise bands, household items, or bodyweight.
